The family vineyard, entirely replanted by Emmanuel’s father in 1987, is certified sustainable, organic and biodynamic. Roger Voss of Wine Enthusiast writes, “This dense and dark wine is showing as much tannin as fruit at this stage. It’s powerful, the dark fruits ripe and seriously structured. Spice, berries, coffee and a tense, mineral texture are all part of the mix. It needs considerable aging, so don’t drink before 2019, 95.” In addition Wine Enthusiast ranks it at number 43 of the top 100 wines of the world.
44. The Eagle's Nest, by Zack Garretson
- Bronze statue, #3 of 35, produced in 1981
Donated by Maggie Downs and Clyde Goldberg
The beauty of the majestic eagle captures your attention in this wonderful bronze by Zack Garretson. The detail in this work brings this creature to life and the protective nature of a mother for her babies. This bronze is a wonderful Montana keepsake and would be perfect on a table or shelf in a home or office.
45. Dunham Syrah 2001, 1 x 6 litersDonated by Louise King
The 2001 Dunham Syrah received a Double Platinum from Wine Press Northwest and a rating of 97 from Wine Magazine (UK) as well as lesser awards in 2003. The winemaker, Eric Dunham, passed away in 2014. Barbara Mosher of Dunham Cellars wrote to us, “We don’t make those special etched bottles any more for regular sale (usually only for specific auction lots, and even then not very often) so it is a very rare bottle. And signed by Eric makes it precious in my book! The original artwork [on the bottle] is still on display in our Hangar Lounge.”
46. Bruccella Cabernet Sauvignon 2012, 1 x 750 ml; Cabernet Sauvignon 2012, 1 x 1.5 liters; Merlot 2012, 1 x 750 ml; Cuvee Katrina Eileen 2012, 1 x 750 mlDonated by Don and Ellen Alweis and Jasons
Bruccella is a high-end Napa winery with very small production. The uber reserve Katrina Eileen is usually so exclusive that it does not get submitted for ratings and is almost impossible to find outside the mailing list. It is a¬†tiny production 100% Cabernet that¬†showcases the best that the¬†varietal can be. The Merlot, which is 97% Merlot and 3% Cabernet Sauvignon, is almost as scarce as the Katrina. Only the Cabernet Sauvignon, which is usually 90% Cabernet with the rest made up of Merlot, Petit Verdot, and Malbec, has been consistently, and highly, rated. Robert Parker, in particular, has always given the Bruccella Cab high marks. He rated the 2011 Cabernet Sauvignon 93, the ’10 95, the ’09 92, the ’08 95, and the ’07 96. The 2012 has yet to be reviewed.
47. Rombauer Chardonnay 2013, 4 x 3 litersSponsored by NorthWestern Energy
Rombauer is one of California’s most important Chardonnays. The 2012 vintage was rated 92 by Wine Spectator and number 41 in their top 100 wines of 2014. The 2013 Rombauer is not yet widely reviewed, but Wilfred Wong of wine.com says it is “so well made; ripe peach fruit in the aromas; delivers well on the palate; smooth and layered in the finish, with excellent firmness. A first-class choice ,” and rates it 90. Delivered in a large format.
